Question 1

What is EstateKey?

Accepted Answer

EstateKey is the system your life has always needed and never had. A secure platform for UAE residents to organise every document, asset, and instruction across 17 life categories – from your Emirates ID to your final wishes. Smart reminders keep you ahead of every expiry. One place to look, no matter what life brings. And when you're ready, The Estate Record brings your entire life into a single, beautifully organised physical archive. Everything in order. Finally.

Question 2

Who is EstateKey for?

Accepted Answer

EstateKey is for UAE residents at every stage of life. You've just arrived and already have a visa, an Emirates ID, a tenancy contract, and health insurance – and no system for any of it. EstateKey is for you. You've been here for years, own property, have investments, run a business, and have a family depending on you. EstateKey is for you. You're approaching retirement and want everything in order before you pass it on. EstateKey is for you. The platform is fully available in English and Arabic.

Question 3

How is EstateKey different from Google Drive or Dropbox?

Accepted Answer

Google Drive and Dropbox are general-purpose file storage. EstateKey is purpose-built for your life as a UAE resident. That means 17 structured life categories (not just folders), UAE-specific smart reminders for visa renewals and Emirates ID expiry, controlled family sharing with a full audit trail, a completeness score so you always know what's missing, and an optional premium physical binder. It is a life system, not a file cabinet.

Question 4

How is EstateKey different from a will-writing service like Blanket or MakeMyWill?

Accepted Answer

Will-writing services help you create one legal document. EstateKey organises your entire life – before, during, and after you create a will. Most EstateKey users also have a registered UAE will. EstateKey is the system that ensures your family knows where everything is. The two are complementary, not alternatives.

Question 5

Is EstateKey a UAE-registered company?

Accepted Answer

Yes. EstateKey is a product of Estate & Keystone Documents Storage Services LLC, a UAE-registered company. Your data is stored on UAE-based servers, compliant with UAE data protection law.

Question 6

Why did you build EstateKey?

Accepted Answer

Our founder Angelina built EstateKey after a storm in her family's Lebanese village nearly destroyed her father's lifetime of documents – passports, property deeds, marriage papers. She realised the problem wasn't unique to one family. EstateKey exists so that it doesn't have to happen to yours.

Question 7

How do I sign up?

Accepted Answer

Download the EstateKey app from the App Store or Google Play, or visit estateandkeystone.com. Sign up with your email address. You can start on the Free trial immediately.

Question 8

Is there a free trial?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Free trial gives you access to all 4 core life categories, basic document storage (up to 500MB), and in-app reminders. Upgrading to Starter (AED 199/year) adds 20GB storage, unlimited smart reminders, shared access, and priority support.

Question 9

What are the 17 life categories?

Accepted Answer

EstateKey organises your life across: (1) Advisors & Contacts, (2) Businesses, (3) Digital Assets, (4) Education & Credentials, (5) Estate Planning, (6) Family & Dependents, (7) Final Wishes, (8) Financial Accounts, (9) Health & Medical, (10) Household Inventory, (11) Insurance, (12) Legal Documents, (13) Personal Identity, (14) Pets, (15) Real Estate, (16) Tax & Government Records, and (17) Vehicles.

Question 10

How long does it take to set up EstateKey?

Accepted Answer

Most users complete their core categories – Identity, Visa, Property, Finance – in under 30 minutes. A fully complete EstateKey (all 17 categories) typically takes 2–3 hours, spread over several sessions. You can start with the most critical documents and add more over time.

Question 11

What documents should I add first?

Accepted Answer

Start with: Emirates ID (with expiry date), UAE residence visa (with expiry date), passport (all family members), health insurance policy, and your most important property document. These five cover 80% of what your family would need in an emergency.

Question 12

How is my data secured?

Accepted Answer

EstateKey uses AES-256 encryption for all stored data, TLS 1.3 for data in transit, and biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) for app access. Your data is stored on UAE-based servers. We do not sell your data and never will. Even our own team cannot access the content of your documents.

Question 13

Who can see my documents?

Accepted Answer

Only you – unless you explicitly choose to share a category with a named person. Even then, you control exactly which categories they can see, and you can revoke access at any time. Every document view is logged in a full audit trail.

Question 14

Is EstateKey compliant with UAE data protection law?

Accepted Answer

Yes. EstateKey operates in compliance with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection. Our servers are UAE-based. We do not transfer your personal data outside the UAE without your consent.

Question 15

What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription?

Accepted Answer

Your data remains accessible on the Free plan indefinitely. If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. We will send you a confirmation when deletion is complete. You can request a full data export before deletion.

Question 16

What happens if EstateKey shuts down?

Question 17

Can I use EstateKey on multiple devices?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your EstateKey syncs across all your devices – iPhone, iPad, Android, and web browser – in real time. Any document or update on one device appears instantly on all others.

Question 18

How do the smart reminders work?

Accepted Answer

When you add a document with an expiry date – such as your residence visa, Emirates ID, or health insurance – EstateKey automatically schedules reminders at 180, 90, 60, 30, 14, and 7 days before expiry. You can customise the timing or mute specific reminders in Settings > Notifications.

Question 19

What happens if my visa expires? How much lead time do I get?

Accepted Answer

EstateKey sends your first visa reminder 180 days (6 months) before expiry – enough time to gather documents, book medical tests, and complete the renewal. UAE law provides a 30-day grace period after visa expiry before fines of AED 50/day begin. EstateKey alerts you at every critical point.

Question 20

Does EstateKey remind me about my Emirates ID?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Emirates ID renewal is linked to your residence visa renewal – you must renew your visa first. EstateKey reminds you at 90, 60, 30, and 14 days before Emirates ID expiry, with a note about the correct order of renewal. A 30-day grace period applies, after which fines of AED 20/day (capped at AED 1,000) begin.

Question 21

Can I set custom reminders?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In addition to automatic expiry reminders, you can set custom reminders on any document or note in EstateKey – for example, a reminder to review your investment portfolio every quarter, or a note to call your lawyer before a property transaction.

Question 22

Where do my reminders appear?

Accepted Answer

All your reminders appear in the Life Centre, organised in chronological order with the most urgent at the top. You also receive push notifications and weekly email digests. Tap any reminder in the Life Centre to go directly to the relevant document or category.
